High Protein Gluten Free Garlic Naan

This easy gluten-free naan recipe contains no egg or yeast and comes together in 30 minutes! This easy stovetop naan recipe is tested-and-perfected, highly rated, and tastes much like traditional naan!

GLUTEN-FREE, HIGH PROTEIN, VEGAN NAAN.

THESE GLUTEN-FREE NAAN:

  1. Are easy to make and require no baking.
  2. Can be made vegan. Replace the egg with flax seed + 3 tbsp water in the recipe to make them vegan.
  3. Are soft and not crumbly. They look just like regular naan!
  4. With a serving of tofu curry, two naan can provide a whopping 35g of vegetarian protein per meal.
  5. Are yeast and gum free
  6. Taste delicious.

The best part? They can also double as garlic bread for Italian pasta nights, that is gluten free pasta nights. If you’re craving some gluten free pasta, then try my personal favorite gluten free noodles (affiliate link).

TO MAKE THIS GLUTEN-FREE NAAN, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING INGREDIENTS:

  • A gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • Almond flour or a preferred gluten-free flour
  • Baking Soda
  • Psyllium husk, additional flax or other gum alternative
  • Salt
  • Sugar or an alternative sweetener
  • Flaxseed meal or an egg
  • Yogurt or yogurt alternative
  • Water
  • Garlic

I’ve tested this naan in a variety of ways in order to make it higher protein, to exclude xantham gum, and to make it vegan. If you don’t mind xantham gum, you can substitute 1 tsp xantham gum in place of the psyllium. I prefer not to use any gums in gluten-free baking because the health benefits are controversial. Substituting flaxseed or vegan yogurt simply provides a slightly hearty taste, but is equally delicious. The addition of flaxseed also adds protein, among other health benefits. Avoiding dairy is also known to reduce inflammation. I generally use almond flour as my additional flour, but there are a variety of gluten free flours to choose from, including simply whatever is in your pantry.
